Nasal Surgery Q & A
Am I a good candidate for nasal surgery?
Dr. McCutcheon is an experienced physician and surgeon who determines if you’re a good candidate for nasal surgery during a consultation. He performs nasal surgery to address many concerns, including those that cause chronic nasal congestion such as a deviated septum, enlarged nasal structures (known as turbinates) or nasal valve collapse.
Dr. McCutcheon may also consider you a good candidate for nasal surgery if you suffer from a nasal deformity.
What can I expect during a nasal surgery consultation?
Dr. McCutcheon takes a patient-centered approach to care and you can expect a comprehensive evaluation when you come to the office to discuss nasal surgery. During your exam, he asks detailed questions to understand your concerns and symptoms. He also reviews your medical history and evaluates your nasal passageway.
To better understand your nasal issues and assist in developing your nasal surgery treatment plan, Dr. McCutcheon performs an in-office sinus-optimized CT scan using the MiniCAT 2020™. This advanced diagnostic tool creates detailed images of your nasal and sinus cavities.
How is nasal surgery performed?
The details of your nasal surgery depend on your diagnosis. Dr. McCutcheon reviews the specifics of your diagnosis and procedure during your consultation so you know how to prepare and what to expect.
Some of the nasal surgeries performed by the team at Memorial Village Sinus and Hearing include:
Image-guided surgery
Memorial Village Sinus and Hearing is an advanced medical and surgical practice that can perform image-guided surgery at the office. Dr. McCutcheon uses image-guided surgery to perform balloon sinuplasty, functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), septoplasty, as well as turbinate reduction surgery.
VIVAER® nasal airway remodeling
For nasal airway obstruction due to nasal valve collapse, abnormal nasal valve swelling, or abnormal turbinate tissue, Dr. McCutcheon offers VIVAER, a noninvasive in-office procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to reshape your nasal passages and eliminate abnormal nasal tissue.
Posterior nasal nerve (PNN) therapy
To alleviate many symptoms of allergic and nonallergic rhinitis, Dr. McCutcheon may perform PNN therapy. During the surgery, Dr. McCutcheon uses cryotherapy to freeze the nerves in your nasal passages that produce swelling and cause mucus secretion.
If you suffer from a nasal condition that affects your lifestyle or breathing, contact Memorial Village Sinus and Hearing by phone or online today to discuss your nasal surgery options.
